Eli Kristin Hanssveen

In 2008 Eli Kristin Hanssveen was featured in the gala opening of the Norwegian National Opera house in Olso in the role of Musetta in La Bohème. Her debut with the house was in 2002, where she amazed critics as the can-can-dancing Valencienne in Die Lustige Witwe. Recent roles include Gilda in Rigoletto, Aminta in Die Schweigsame Frau, Le feu/La Prinsesse/Le rossignol in L'enfant et les sortilèges, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Norina in Don Pasquale and the world premier of Violetta and The Moon in Travelling the world in 80 days.
In 2011/2012, she will sing Die Königin in Die Zauberflöte (Oslo in September), the main role in Making the Opera (Krakow in October), Waldvogel in Siegfried (Bergen in November), and Musetta in La Bohème (Oslo in January and February).
This season her first opera album, Ch'il bel sogno, will be released. Coming up is Violetta in La Traviata.
Her Swedish debut was at the Läckö Slottsopera in 2003 in the role of Blondchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail. Other roles include Cunegonde in Candide, Euridice in Orphee aux Enfers, Ophelie in Hamlet and the title roles in Lucia, Lakme and Manon.
A versatile artist, Ms. Hanssveen has performed as an actress in regional and national theater companies and is frequently heard as a jazz, cross over and musical soloist. After working with jazz pianist Misha Alperin on a German tour, the Frankfurter Allgemeine wrote, "Because of Eli Hanssveen's background and wide range of skills and stage presence, she is an extraordinary match to Misha Alperin's Moscow Art Trio".
