American bass Brian Jauhiainen has performed in leading theaters in Europe such as the Berlin State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Lisbon, Monte-Carlo, Nice, Helsinki, Mallorca, Las Palmas and throughout the United States.

Recent engagements for Mr. Jauhiainen include: the Commendatore in Don Giovanni with Spoleto Festival in the USA, Opera Columbus, NY City Opera, Portland Opera, Hawaii Opera Theater and Opera Ireland; Il Re in Aida, and Sparafucile in Rigoletto with Orlando Opera; Orlov in the world-premiere of Guest from the Future with the Bard Music Festival; Bonze in Madama Butterfly with Palm Beach Opera , Opera Company of Philadelphia and Baltimore Opera; as well as his debut with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra in the premiere of Garrison Keillor's and Andrew Stein's comic opera Mr. And Mrs. Olson. Other engagements include Frere Laurent in Roméo et Juliette, and Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte at the Beijing Music Festival; Dvorak's Requiem at the International Festival of Macau; the Bass soloist in the Hong Kong Opera gala; the King in Aida with Opera Nice; and Abimelech in Samson et Dalila with Florida Grand Opera.

Mr. Jauhiainen performs frequently in Europe. Notable performances include the title roles in Le Nozze di Figaro in Italy and Canada, as well as the title role in Don Giovanni in Braunschweig, Germany. Additional European engagements have included Ferrando in Il Trovatore in Duesseldorf; Commendatore in Don Giovanni with the Finnish National Opera; Pistola in Falstaff at the Macao International Festival of Music; Ramfis in Aida in Buenos Aires; Frere Laurent in Roméo et Juliette in Shanghai; King Phillip in Don Carlo in Riga, Latvia; Colline in at the Beijing Music Festival; Truffaldino in Ariadne auf Naxos and Walton in I Puritani at the Teatro San Carlos in Lisbon; Leporello in Don Giovanni in Palma de Mallorca; and the Secret Police Agent in The Consul with Opéra de Monte-Carlo. He has also performed Truffaldino in Ariadne auf Naxos, Alaska Wolf Joe in The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, and Priest in Moses und Aron with the Frankfurt Opera; Monterone in Rigoletto, and Truffaldino in Klangenfurt, Austria; and Lodovico in Otello in Macau and Las Palmas under the baton of Eve Queler. He sang the world premiere of Jorn's Europe und der Stier at the Berliner Festwochen and appeared with RAI Torino in Mahagonny.

Previous engagements have also included Colline in La Bohème in Macau, China; returns to Palm Beach Opera and Kentucky Opera as the Commendatore in Don Giovanni; Dr. Grenvil in La Traviata with Orlando Opera; a return to Baltimore Opera as the Bonze in Madama Butterfly; Timur in Turandot at the Teatro Principal in Palma de Mallorca; Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor with New Orleans Opera; Daland in Der fliegende Holländer with Palm Beach Opera; Timur in Turandot with Kentucky Opera; Commendatore in Don Giovanni with Baltimore Opera, Atlanta Opera, and Cleveland Opera; Banquo in Macbeth with Hawaii Opera Theatre; and the Bonze in Madama Butterfly with Cleveland Opera. Mr. Jauhiainen has performed frequently with Santa Fe Opera in Cavalli's La Calisto, Massenet's Cherubin, and the world premieres of Rochberg's The Confidence Man and Eaton's The Tempest. Additional companies he has performed with include New York City Opera and the Opera Orchestra of New York.

Mr. Jauhiainen made his debut with the Opera Orchestra of New York in I Masnadieri and with the San Francisco Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas in Stravinsky's Renard. His concert repertoire includes performances of J.J. dos Santos' Stabat Mater, Bizet's Vasco da Gama, Schubert's Mass in a-flat major, all with the Porto Symphony in Portugal; Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Verdi's Requiem, and Handel's Messiah. A native of Minnesota, Mr. Jauhiainen has studied at the Young Artists Program at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and at Juilliard's American Opera Center, performing in such productions as Gianni Schicchi and Argento's Postcard from Morocco.
