Gary Lehman earns standing ovation and great reviews in his Met debut as TristanOn Friday March 14, Gary Lehman made his Met debut singing Tristan, replacing an indisposed Ben Heppner. He performed superbly in his first performance of one of opera's most difficult roles - initial reviews so far have been extremely favorable: "And from the moment he appeared on the Met stage, he took control of the role, with a strong presence - enhanced by his tall, relatively trim figure - and a sturdy tenor that projected well into the vast auditorium... Warren Mok, tenor, was named a "Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Stella della Solidarita Italiana" (A Knight of the order of the Star of the Italian Solidarity) by the Italian government for his efforts in promoting Italian culture in Hong Kong. Also, his CD "Mahler: Das Lied von der Erde" was named CD of the week in London (1/10/2008)!
